Overview:

Nature-lovers and history enthusiasts can finally enjoy a holiday that not only appeals to two of their passions but also does full justice to them over this seven-day package. Ease yourself into the adventures of the days to come with a relaxing first day spent in Kannur. Succumb to the charms of this quaint coastal city with a trip to the Kannur Lighthouse that serves as both a window into its maritime and trading history and an idyllic vantage spot to take in views of the glittering coastline. Soak in a beautiful sunset at golden hour at the Cliff Walkway .

Travel onwards to Wayanad with its misty-peaked mountains and discover sites of interest such as the 3000-year-old-Edakkal Caves known for its wall rock carvings. Bamboo rafting adventures set against a landscape of tea gardens are another unique experience. From Wayanad go to Kabini, where you will enjoy an unforgettable wildlife safari through the renowned jungles of Nagarhole National Park.

Mysore or the Royal City is to serve as the penultimate port of calling on this itinerary and for good reason too. Visit the Mysore Palace and get to know what it took to build the country’s most maginificent palace. Spend a morning at Srirangapatna island, located only 40 minutes from Mysore, and get insights into the battles waged between Tipu Sultan and the British. Pay your respects at some of the city’s other monuments and grand old structures as well as at the famous century-old local market. The Chamundeshwari Temple, located atop the Chamundi Hills (13 kilometres east of Mysore), is another site of interest that has been patronised for centuries by Mysore rulers.

Coffee connoisseurs will experience a little piece of paradise on the last day of this tour as they will visit Coorg – a famed centre for coffee and spice plantations with lush carpeted hills in hues of green and blue.

Itinerary

DAY 1

KANNUR ARRIVAL

On arrival at Kannur International Airport/railway station, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Later in the evening, head towards the Kannur Lighthouse. A climb to the top offers a bird’s eye view of Kannur’s splendid coastline. The Lighthouse also houses a small but well-maintained museum within its complex, which bears the distinction of being only the fourth of its kind in the country after Alappuzha, Chennai and Mahabalipuram. A gigantic optic used in the Lakshadweep Lighthouse during the 1885-1962 period, a 19th century double-wick lamp of Kannur Lighthouse, a huge fog-bell used to alert shipmen and a deep-sea buoy are some of the exhibits. Finish your day with a short visit to the Cliff Walkway, adjacent to the Lighthouse, for some spectacular views of the Arabian Sea. Catching a beautiful sunset is a bonus. Return to your hotel. Stay overnight in Kannur.
