Get blessed by Muthappan Theyyam at Parassinikadavu Temple. Travel back in time and history with a visit to Fort St. Angelo. Get insights into why Kannur forged its position as one of the world’s major handloom exporters with a trip to a handloom weaving centre. Beach enthusiasts can experience the allure of the five-kilometre Muzhappilangad stretch dubbed Asia’s longest drive-in beach.

Authentic experiences are at the heart of every memorable holiday and interacting in rural life is one of the best ways to appreciate a culture firsthand. Only 90 minutes from Kannur, a day-trip to Kunhimangalam affords visitors the opportunity to get glimpses of the exquisite bronze and bell metal craftsmanship that have put this small village on the map. Coconut climbing, traditional fishing and a pit-stop to a traditional goldsmith’s house are just some of the other activities you’ll get to submerge yourself in on this adventure.

You will be met and picked up from Kannur Airport/Railway Station and transferred to your accommodation, where you will spend the next 3 nights. Relax until late afternoon. Later in the evening, visit the Kannur Lighthouse .A climb to the top offers a bird’s eye view of Kannur’s splendid coastline. The Lighthouse also houses a small but well-maintained museum within its complex, which bears the distinction of being only the fourth of its kind in the country after Alappuzha, Chennai and Mahabalipuram. A gigantic optic used in the Lakshadweep Lighthouse during the 1885-1962 period, a 19th century double-wick lamp of Kannur Lighthouse, a huge fog-bell used to alert shipmen and a deep-sea buoy are some of the exhibits. Finish your day with a short visit to the Cliff Walkway, adjacent to the Lighthouse, for some spectacular views of the Arabian Sea. Soaking in a beautiful sunset is a definite bonus. Return to your hotel. Stay overnight in Kannur.
Day 2

Early morning, you will be transferred to the Parassinikkadav Sree Muthappan Temple, located 40 minutes from Kannur town, on the banks of the Valapattanam river. Sree Muthappan is a personification of two divine figures – Thiruvappana and Vellattam but is worshipped as a single deity. For people in Kannur and surrounding areas, Sree Muthappan is the most revered deity. Unlike other temples, this temple does not make discriminations on the basis of religion, caste or creed – all visitors are welcome. The temple is also unique as it performs the ritual enactment of both the characters of Muthappan through a traditional dance known as the Muthappan Theyyam on a daily basis. Depending on your hotel’s location, head back to the hotel for breakfast or venture elsewhere on your own to sample the region’s local fare. Continue your day’s visit by heading to Fort St. Angelo. Built in 1505 by Portuguese, the Fort witnessed several historical battles and is considered an important historical site in South India. After lunch, stop at a handloom weaving center, to learn about Kannur’s handloom industry. Kannur’s association with the handloom industry dates back to the mid-1800s. Kannur produces arguably the best handloom products in the world with USA, UK, Australia and other European countries being major importers. In the evening, head to Muzhappilangad drive-in beach, 40 mins from town for a spectacular sunset. Dubbed the longest Drive-In Beach in Asia, Muzhappilangad consistently draws in visitors with the pristine promise of its five-kilometre stretch of sand to drive along. Stay overnight in Kannur.
Day 03

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Kunhimangalam, 90 minutes north of Kannur. This small village of craftsmen is well-known for its bronze and bell metal craft and is famous for its metal artisans who cast magnificent bronze lamps, sculptures and other items. Many temples in Kerala as well as the Mangalore and Coorg region of Karnataka have idols made of panchaloha (five metals) from here. Start your tour with the visit to Bell Metal Heritage Village. From here, you will be taken to Weavers Society Kunhimangalam to learn about the thriving handloom industry. Your next stop will be a traditional goldsmith's house. Lunch will be organised at a local home in the village. After lunch, you will be taken to another small village to visit a coconut farm. Watch an expert climb a coconut tree and give it a shot yourself. You will be taken through the art of weaving coconut palm leaves, the final product of which is still commonly used for thatching roofs and also for other utilities. Catching prawns, crab and other fish in a traditional way is the next highlight of your day tour. Let your day draw to a serene end with a short boat ride along the Ezhom river. After the boat ride, you will be transferred back to Kannur for a late evening arrival. Stay overnight in Kannur.
Day 04

After breakfast, check out of your hotel. Later, you will be transferred to the Kannur International Airport or railway station for your onward journey.
